Did you know that in Brazil there are many ways to show respect? If you are talking to an older person you call him or her by the title Mister or Missus. Other way is that you can shake hands. My culture element is customs. It is a non-material element because it shows the values and beliefs of the culture. This is how I can define the word customs for you. Customs are the good manners people use to help other people. As I was saying, customs are very important. Do you want to hear more?

I’m going to talk about Carnival, Brazilian behavior, and about the Portuguese custom of “Jeito”. Do you want to hear more? There is a word called jeito in Portuguese. Brazilians use this word to solve difficult problems. It means finding practical solutions to difficult problems without making waves. For instance, one day I wanted to go to the movies. My mom said that she didn’t have our car. I said that there was another “way”- by riding a taxi. Next, my mom said, “Ok.”, then we went to the movies. The deeper reason for  jeito is the way Brazilians want things to happen but they don't want to let other people get mad. It is important to know how people feel and get what they want because the other person can be really mad at you and it is really bad if there is somebody is mad at you. Brazilians have this word because it is easier to them say, and the other person that you are talking to understands you really well.

Now, I am going to tell you about the Carnival.Carnival is famous in Brazil. It is for a short time. Carnival is from end of January to beginning of March. Brazilians enjoys it very much. Everybody in this wonderful country relaxes every minute of it. My family and I don’t have a chance to go watch a carnival show so we watch from the TV until late night. Everybody of my family enjoys carnival. We go more out together.

Now for the last one, I’m going to talk about the Brazilian behavior. Maybe the Brazilian behavior came from an ld Portuguese behavior. The kind of behavior is changeable, the living of one’s life as one wants to live it. I hope that by now you know about Carnival, Brazilian behavior and about the word “Jeito”. If you liked you should come here in Brazil. I hope that you enjoyed reading!
