In Mesopotamia, only some people had the knowledge to create the inventions which wasn’t very fair. This materiel element is also known as tools. In ancient Mesopotamia they liked to make new inventions quicker and quicker so they could survive.

Part of being in the Material World is the use of tools as well as inventions.  For example, in Mesopotamia, a huge invention was the wheel, but in the sixth grade the major invention is the I-pod. In Mesopotamia, they didn’t even own toys. This was due to the fact that they were always afraid of being conquered. So, they had no time to make toys. Another difference between our two ages, in Mesopotamia, about 3% of a civilization knew how to read and write. However, in the sixth grade, 100% of the grade can read and write.  One of the more positive aspects in Mesopotamia was that they were the first to introduce taxing to the world, but their mode of transportation could be considered negative to us. They either had to walk or drive a chariot.  Although, in the 6th grade most of us use airplanes, cars and buses as our form of transportation. In conclusion, their tools and inventions during the Mesopotamian time weren’t very good in our eyes but they were the building blocks of our society.

Tools and inventions are part of warfare. Warfare at the time in ancient Mesopotamia was full of leaders and the government. At that time, and still today, it was important having a army that could protect and also attack other city states. One positive thing was that leaders could control a large group of people in a good organized way. These are some weapons that the army’s in Mesopotamia had: axes, shields, and spears. There were others things like the chariots, the battering ram,  siege towers and ramps. But there were consequences for warfare. If children were captured, they had to live far away from their original homeland. The king of the army who won would get all the goods and valuable things for himself. Many slaves were taken from the city that was defeated. Sometimes there were tributes for a protection but for that protection they had to pay once a year in silver and other goods. If the victors stayed in the land and married the culture of the persons who lost became part of the victor's culture. This is called a cultural diffusion. Comparing with Mesopotamia with Brazil, Brazil is a very peaceful nation. Mesopotamia was a place where they had much wars and Brazil doesn’t.

The Graded School students overall have a positive outlook on their lives. They, most of the time, think that things will work in the end. They feel that they have choices in their lives. So most of the students feel like their lives are going well and that they are happy. But in Mesopotamia, their overall view was negative because they were at war all the time and overall warfare was negative. For example, the Assyrians were vicious warriors because they used iron weapons. These weapons were used conquer other city states.
